The 2020 ASF Adaptive Sports Jam is a one-of-a-kind adaptive sports event that took place in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida this past weekend Feb. 14-16th, 2020. We partnered up with our west-coast family, SoCal WCMX, to throw down an amazing weekend packed full of WCMX, Adaptive Skateboarding, music, and more! We knew this event would be a hit after our first successful year, but WOW, we have been overwhelmed with positive feedback and support from the community regarding the 2nd event
The Jam went down at the brand new St. Pete Skatepark, which is one of the largest skateparks on the East coast of the US, built by our friends over at Team Pain Skateparks. This skatepark was a perfect venue for an adaptive event, as practically all of the park is accessible by wheelchair & connected to the hotel next door by a sidewalk. Great job by the City of St. Petersburg working with the action sports community to help revitalize the Campbell Park area!

Practice day for the event was Friday, Feb 14th, and the athletes had a chance to check out the park and plan some lines for their runs. The riders meeting back at the hotel was a lot of fun, and all the riders signed our first batch of Share The Skate decks for both the Mayor of St. Petersburg, Rick Kriseman, and one of our own, Jonathan Stark who couldn't attend this year's event.

The main event took place on Saturday, with setup beginning at 8:00 A.M. The skatepark itself is massive and already has a great layout, and adding a few ASF Adaptive kickers & rails really opens up the opportunities for riders to really show what they can do. The course volunteers hustled all day to give these amazing athletes everything they wanted to shred this awesome park. Since last year's Jam, the city has really stepped it up and working colsely with us to make the skatepark even more accessible.
The action that took place during the competition was simply incredible! We had a new crop of athletes attending this year and WOW they really brought the heat!
The 2020 Jam also was the first WCMX/ Adaptive Skate competition to use the new electronic scoring system from our friends at The Boardr, and will count towards World WCMX world rankings.
After the dust settled from some serious competition, it was Aaron Wheelz Fotheringham taking home 1st pace and $500.00 cash prize. Youi can view the full event scoring at More info about this awesome event management system soon!
On Sunday, we visited our partners at Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch in Pinellas Park. WWAR is a 10 acre park that's ideal for all kinds of adaptive sports! The folks at WWAR have formed teams for several sports including softball, basketball, and rugby. One of the great things about WWAR is that they welcome civillians into their events and programs, and that in itself has helped Tampa Bay area adaptive sports grow by leaps and bounds over the past few years. With Top End Wheelchairs right down the street, trying out sport chairs, hand cycles and more is quite easy. We highly recommend visiting WWAR if you're in the area- it's a truly great place to hang out!
Now, here we are doing the post-event wrap up & it's quite honestly overwhelming. There are hundreds of details in pulling off an event like this, and to sit back and realize "we did it once again" is an amazing feeling! There are SO many people who helped put this event together along the way, and all did a stellar job!
Big thanks to everyone for spending the weekend with us, and to the volunteers who made it happen- we hope to see you again soon!
